Jace is almost 3 months old! He is so much fun. He loves to "talk" to us, and smile, although mostly i refer to him as a 'serious' baby. He is usually pretty content and loves to just stare and study. Anyway.. pictures are fun so here you go:

7 weeks

Jace is already 7 weeks old (tomorrow). He is getting so big and he is sooo much fun. He has been smiling a lot lately, it's so cute! He is such a little chunk, he has the chubbiest little cheeks.

Jared has been swan hunting and duck hunting and fishing like CRAZY. Holy cow. OBSESSED. he did get a swan this year, he was so proud. I was sitting at my house and the doorbell rang.. I opened it to find Jared standing there looking completely HAPPY, holding his swan up (by the neck)... I have a picture, but some people might not find it too amusing. haha. It was quite hillarious, who knew i married such a redneck.

As for me, i have started working from home a little bit. I am absolutely dreading the day when i go back and have to leave Jace... seriously dreading it. I love my job, but who knew you could get so attached to a little guy so fast. I spend almost every single moment with him and to leave him seems like it will rip my heart out. Jared will be able to stay home with him until he finds a job, but even that seems hard. I know that working moms have normal kids that love them, so i have to keep reminding myself of that. Why can't we just be rich :)

Jace Joseph

It's been a long time, but Jace Joseph Quayle is finally here. He was 3 days past his due date of October 29th, which was driving me crazy! He was finally born on Tuesday, November 1, at 8:34 PM. He weighed 8 pounds 5 ounces and was 22 inches long. It's been so fun to take care of him for the past 2 weeks, I love that little guy!

I was bound and determined to go into labor, so on halloween night in between the trick or treaters, I was running up and down the stairs, doing jumping jacks, and whatever else i could think of. Jared was ready to throw something at me because i wouldn't hold still... but it worked! Finally, I woke up with contractions 5 minutes apart. I told Jared that I was having contractions.. to which he responded, "Okay, well I'm going to school". So he left... and i kept contracting... I called my Mom and my sister in law Tressa, who both decided that they thought i was probably in labor. I did what anyone would do... Called my husband and told him to meet me at the hospital. Yup, drove myself to the hospital. Jared was convinced i was not in labor because it wasn't anything like the movies where the mom is dying to get in to have the baby. They ended up keeping me and the best thing i've ever done was get my epidural early... :)

11 hours later, baby Jace was here. When they broke my water earlier that afternoon, they told me that Jace had "pooped" in my tummy aka there was mechonium in my water. They told me that when this happens, it's possible that the baby could have inhaled it, so they would be taking him right when he was born to be suctioned to make sure there wasn't mechonium in his lungs. So, sure enough, they took him, cleaned him all up and finally handed him to me. I held him for a few seconds, but he was making these sad little grunting sounds, the poor kid couldn't breathe. So they took him again and rushed him to get an xray. They found out he had a pneumo-thorax, or a hole in one of his lungs that was leaking air to his chest cavity. The air was pushing his other lung and heart over, making it really difficult for him to breathe. They ended up having to put a chest tube in him to drain the extra air.The chest tube worked fast, and by the next morning there was barely any air left in his chest cavity. They had to feed him with an IV and keep him on oxygen to help his lung heal. He stayed in the NICU until Friday night. Finally, the told us he was good to go home and I was one happy momma. It was a stressful welcoming to parenthood, but we are so thankful for everyone that took such great care of our little Jace.

Jace is an EXCELLENT baby. He rarely cries, he eats like a champ (after 1 week... he's already gained 5 ounces), and is so cuddly.

A big Easter Announcement!

Jared and I had a fun opportunity to announce to my family that... I'm Pregnant! Currently, I'm 13 weeks and due October 29th. I had so much fun announcing the news to our families, but my favorite was being able to tell my Great Grandma Hartley that she was going to be a Great GREAT Grandma for the first time. She was thrilled, her exact words were "I'm so elated! I was just saying this morning that I need a Great Great Grandbaby!" We have video of this, and it's worth watching Grandma Hartley give a fist pump. I'll post it soon!

The past few months...

Finally I've updated my blog. It's been a busy few months! I have been working full time at the hospital, I'm learning a lot and I really enjoy working, especially with the people I work with. I was making jewelry like crazy for a while (I always tell Jared I'm working two jobs to make up for his lack of...) but now it's really slowed down. Jared is looking for a job, so if anyone knows of anything let us know!

Jared participated in the Burbat Bash with his friend Jeremy. They fished for a whole week! Me and Teresa went up for the weekend to see what the craze was all about. Burbot are UGLY-slimy-eel-like fish. Gross. I didn't catch any but everyone else did :) It was ice fishing, which actually was pretty fun. We were all bundled up on the middle of creeking ice! Scary.

The last pictures are of our new house, which hopefully will be done by around March 5th. It's cute huh?

We've been home for 2 months now. We are building a house in Hyrum through Sierra Homes and we can't wait! I have been really busy with work and Jared has been duck hunting.

Home Sweet Home...

Well.. our European adventure has come to an end for now. Being away from where you know and love can really make you appreciate how much you love your family and your friends, along with many other things that we often take for granted. We survived a whole...2 months! Not quite the ten we were planning on, but we decided that we wanted to come home and are completely happy with our decision. We enjoyed our time in Belgium and met a whole bunch of awesome friends, and we're so thankful for the opportunity we were given. We hadn't known we were leaving until earlier this week and by last night at 8:00 PM we were being picked up by my family. They even surprised us by picking up Leah (our dog) from Jared's parents house so that we could see her when we walked in the door- so fun and i think Leah is in second heaven.. Coming home has been the best thing that we could want right now. Sometimes life doesn't work out how you planned so you have to keep moving... and in this case i guess moving was taken literally. :)

Chicken Restaurant

We went out with Lori and Dior last week to eat at 'The Chicken Restaurant', it went a little like this...

We walk in to the restaurant greeted in Dutch...

"UHHH... do you speak english?"

"half chicken each?"

"uhhh... do you have a menu?"

"typically half chicken for each person"

"okay? we'll have 4 half chickens then"

Dinner served... YUP. we each have a half of a chicken in front of us

"tradition is eat with your hands"

"What?"

"No fork, eat with your hands"

The boys... "okay!"

Lori says..."No one else is eating with their hands?? can we please have a fork?"

the man looks a little sad, but hands us each a fork...

Good thing Lori was there. This wasn't no KFC eat with your hands bucket of chicken... this was a half chicken, rotissery style, aka you would be clawing at it to eat it because you don't pick up a rotissery chicken and take a bite of it.

DELICIOUS. definitely. WORTH IT. yes.

(I am trying to forget the mans horror movie-long-dirty-gross-and-most-unappetizing fingernails that touched my chicken with no gloves... and the fact that when jared went back the next day for more (yes he loved it that much) that the man licked his fingers after dishing up Jared's sauce AND handling raw chicken.... I'm trying to forget this because it WAS the best meal we have had at a restaurant since we got here and also because lori hates when i mention this)

Game 1

We made it through another week! Jared had his first game on Saturday, which was a huge bummer game. They played Oostende, who finished in 2nd place last year. The score was 81-70, but the game was a lot closer than it sounds. Losing is never fun... Their next game is on this Saturday.

My mom is coming in 25 days and I CAN'T WAIT. Have i mentioned how much i love this woman... She is the best.

The team held a huge publicity event on Tuesday night. It was pretty fun, (other than all of the speakers were in dutch). They introduced the team and after had a bunch of mingling and pictures. I've uploaded the video of Jared's introduction. Louis, the man speaking, is the team manager, and he was so proud that he was able to rhyme the whole intro.. even though he added some stuff.. like Jared is a fanatic reader.. which we all know is NOT true. hahaha. we laughed pretty hard.

After the party we went to downtown leuven and rode the ride.. it swung from side to side-- way high in the air, and turned you in circles. I was laughing SO hard at Jared and Dior.. who were both FREAKING out.

Belgium is SO different than Utah.

This is a conversation from me and my mom on skype...

"Mom, It's just SO different here ," i whined while making a sad face...
"Stop COMPLAINING about how different it is and go out and enjoy the differences"

Best advice i've received since i got here.

A lot of your are probably thinking i'm crazy to complain.. i'm living the dream, right? Yes, at times it is sooooo much fun, when we can go out and explore. But you also have to remember that most days Jared is at practice all day and I am at home, which leads to me and my whining.

Although i still miss things like..

My Family

My dog, Leah (are you guys sick of hearing about Leah?)

Grocery stores that have instant food, that is still delicious so me and my lazy self don't have to actually THINK of meals to cook

Stores like Target, Wal Mart (yup I said it, cast your judgements haha) , Lee's and any other grocery store..

Restaurants like Costa Vida, Chili's, Bluebird Cafe, Olive Garden, etc..

A dryer that ACTUALLY dries clothes in less than an hour

I have found some things I love about belgium MORE than Utah.

Being in the middle of Europe and being so close to so many countries like the netherlands,
france, germany, england, italy, spain.. these are the places i want to visit most!

As for Basketball it's been a roller coaster week again. They lost one game against Leiden, but Jared had 25 points! He is so amaz-z-zing! Then they won one against Zwolle. Both teams are from the Netherlands. Tonight is their last preseason game. I plan on posting his games on youtube once the season starts so that those of you who are interested can watch. The first game is October 2 at home.

Lori and I went to Knokke (pronounced Kah no kah.. i think) to watch them play zwolle. While there we went to the coast and saw the beautiful beach and sea! we looooved it. It would be so fun in the summer when it's warm. We also had the best waffles... best waffle i have ever had... at a place called home made austrailian ice cream. on a side note... we've been asked a little about our religion from various people we've met here. Yup.. we are mormons- we are from utah- and we love it. mormon.org is a great website with some accurate information on the mormon religion. A couple of things that we believe in are: our savior Jesus Christ and His atonement, our Heavenly Father who loves and knows each and everyone of us, and the Holy Ghost who helps us throughout our daily lives, our living prophet, Thomas S. Monson, who receives revelation to help us be better people, Families that last forever even when we die, the book of mormon- another testament of Jesus Christ, baptism, and so many other happy and wonderful things.

Brussels, Games and More... excited?

Good Morning, even though most of you are still in a deep sleep. This last week has been pretty fun. Jared had a few games, one was fan day at their practice gym. They won. Yesterday they played the same team from the Netherlands that beat them last week and unfortunately lost again. It was a rough game.. let's just keep it at that.

These are Malu and John Tofi's kids. John plays on Jared's team. I'm missing one kid, Ioane, but they are sooo much fun. We love hanging out with them. The older one in these pictures is Tommy, and he's only 2! He's so tall, i thought he was at least 4 when I met him. The baby is Ernie, he's so sweet. He's turning one in a week or so. Everytime you take Ernie's picture he gladly gives you a big cheese. Soooo funny. Me and Lori were cracking up. Thanks Malu for sharing your kids with us!

Jared actually had a day off this week so we went into brussels to take a look around. We weren't there for very long but the city looks amazing. While we were walking down the street this strange parade came through. Silly men throwing out oranges.. one man even threw me one when i took his picture. haha.. no idea what they were doing, but i like oranges so i was happy. The buildings were amazing, europe definitely wins the coolest architecture award.
I'm having a lot of fun even though i really miss my family and...

Windmills

Welcome to the Netherlands!

There were bikes everywhere. I know this is hard to see but this is a bike parking garage. WHAT THE HECK!? Millions of bikes. millions.

This is me and Lori.

I had an amazing time this weekend with Lori. We went to Amsterdam, Netherlands to see Anne Franks house. It was really sad and interesting. I bought myself a copy of her diary which so far is amazing. I forgot most of what i read in the 8th grade so I'm very excited to reread it. I can't believe she died only a month before she got to go home. It made me so mad at Hitler. UGH. It's so crazy that people got away with treating other humans so horribly.

We also went to the Van Gogh museum which would've been way more interesting if I was into art. His pictures were amazing, and I found a few that I loved. Unfortunately, they wouldn't let us take pictures in either museum. I can't believe he killed himself over his artwork. He thought no one like it.. turns out he's a little more than famous.

American food is few and far between. On our drive we found this..

So happy for American food.. love it, although our Burger King wasn't near as yummy as home.

Saturday night we went to the game, where unfortunately the boys lost. They got killed by the number 1 team in Holland. It was a tough. It was in a city called apeldoorn which was about an hour and a half away from Amsterdam.

We stayed the night in Apeldoorn.

The next morning we drove back towards amsterdam to a place about 9 miles north.. called Zaanse Schans in Zaandam. This is where the windmills are! We saw a lot of windmills on the drive, but this had them all grouped together. It was beautiful. We actually got to go inside a windmill called de kat, which makes dye. they were grinding up chalky stuff inside. That's what you'll see in the video. This was my favorite place because it was gorgeous, and free!

After the windmills we drove to Bergen Op Zoom for their second game where they killed the team! They won by almost 50 points. It was a drastic change from the night before!

Game 2

Jared's team won on Wednesday. They played the Oostkamp Blackbirds and beat them 89 to 58. The blackbirds are a division 2 team, so we were glad to come home with a win. It was at home at their practice gym... and this time Jared made a dunk! He played really well, ending up with 13 points. Next time i'm going to try to keep stats... Unfortunately I'm a bad wife and I didn't bring my camera to this game. We leave this weekend for the Netherlands. Jared plays two games, one in Apeldoorn and one in Bergen Op Zoom. Lori and I are driving her smart car and plan on exploring a little bit of holland.

The leuven bears stand at Eurofolies. Each stand represented a different country. Our was Luxembourg. I guess they roast pigs there.

Well... this week came and went fast.

People ask me what i do all day... well I don't really know. I usually work a couple of hours for my job back at home. They were way awesome and sent me with a computer. Then I read. I love to read. I clean. I take naps. I go on jogs. I live the easiest life imaginable.

Wednesday was Jared's first game. Unfortunately they lost. It was in a town called Knokke, which is right on the coast. It was a two hour drive but luckily we had a ride, thanks Erwin and Kathy and Sofie! The game was a lot different than a USU game :) The score was 85-74 and Jared had 8 points. The video on my previous post was from the game..

We attended an event called Eurofolies. The team had a stand where they were roasting a pig. yuck. I've never seen this actually done, but to say the least i felt bad for the poor little piglet. I like pig better when it is already cut and packaged then you don't have to think about what you are eating. Watching it go round and round made me sad. Maybe europe will make me a vegetarian.

Other than Jared being really busy with basketball, they practice twice a day, nothing else really noteworthy happened. Here's to a new week of adventures.

My mother was trying to help cheer me up since i'm getting homesick, don't worry though.. i like belgium it's just a big adjustment. She sent me a list of possible hobbies.

The best that made me giggle for a good ten minutes was this...

What about belly dancing? I have started doing this and its doing wonders for my waist line. I even have a gig set up at the Layton Hills Mall during lunch time. I get to walk around the tables while people are eating and belly dance for them. They really seem to be amazed at my talent. The movement seems to be very hypnotic. Their faces tell it all- their mouths are open wide with wonder and awe and their eyes are practically bugging out of their heads and they simply can't take their eyes off me. I think all of my years as a Lakette prepared me for this experience. Jake is also experiencing the thrill of having a famous mom. He loves it when I am dancing their during his lunchtime..

I don't remember this buildings name, but its right in the middle of downtown leuven. People get married here. It's probably the coolest looking building I've ever seen!

We made it through our first week in Belgium and so far it has been great. We have met so many nice people.

Just to clarify, Lindsey is writing this blog, not Jared :) I should take full responsibility for the silly things i post...

We made it to our ward this morning and were warmly welcomed. The bishop is actually from Virginia! We met the missionaries who were from payson, roy and burley, ID. It's a small world :) The meeting was in Dutch but they were able to translate for us into some nifty little headsets. I am excited to get to know the members. The ward was small, only about 40 people were there today which is a lot different than what we are used to.

We also went on a city tour with Jared's team and saw some of downtown Leuven. It was really fun and so beautiful. The only thing i don't get is the beetle stuck on the needle... and neither did the people who are from Belgium.

I was able to meet up with my new friend Lori who is here with one of the players. She is from San Fran and is so much fun! There are two other girls with the team, Lori and Len (Sorry Len if i am spelling your name wrong). Len is from Belgium and is so fun to talk to, she is helping me learn where the good places to eat and shop are :) I WALKED to downtown thinking that it wouldn't be that far.. it took me an hour, and when i finally made it I was so tired. Lori and I walked around and shopped. We had our first Belgian Waffles-- One that was gross-- and the other one DELICIOUS! Lori taught me the ways of the bus so i wouldn't have to walk back home. Thank heavens!

As for Jared, he is very busy with basketball. They have practice twice a day, and he really seems to be enjoying his new team. Their first game is on Wednesday, it is a preseason game. I am excited to get back into the basketball life.

Welcome to Belgium!

We made it to belgium yesterday morning (9:20 AM local time) 1:20 AM Utah time. We were exhausted from a long plane ride but we survived! We met some of the people that run the team and filled out a lot of paperwork, and finally they took us to our apartment. We were pooped so we took a nap. Our apartment is pretty fun and a lot bigger than expected. It has bright yellow walls :) We like it although Jared told me that the walls are too bright. ha...

We then woke up because one of the team manager guys came to take us to the grocery store and give us our car. We now drive a little mercedes hatchback thing. Pretty cute and little! The best part was trying to figure out how to put it in reverse... at one point i had to get out and push it backwards in the pooring rain because we couldn't figure it out... but don't tell Jared i told you :)

The grocery store was weird... try shopping in dutch. We couldn't figure out what stuff was, so everytime we saw something we recognized it was in the cart. The weirdest thing to me was there was no milk in the fridge, it was just sitting on the shelf... it had cows on it and said melk so we figured that's what it was...

Next we went out to eat. It was pretty good but we felt dumb because apparently you have to wave a server down to order.. ha we sat there for a good while.

Anyway, we are here and it is really nice! We are excited for our adventure even though we feel clueless!

Belgium and Leah

Well, thanks everyone for your comments on my last post, especially those of you from Belgium! How cool is that? So glad to hear that English is spoken there, what a relief... also, funny that there is a pub on every street corner pretty much, a lot different than Utah, that's for sure!

To answer some of your questions... YES I am nervous. Nervous that i'll be homesick.. but so excited that it wipes my nervousness out the door for a split second. We will live there for 10 months, which also helps with my nervousness.. it will be a great experience. During the summer months (june through august) we will most likely be back in Utah.

I've officially started myself into a panicked frenzy.

What are we going to do with all of our 'stuff'?

How in the heck am I supposed to pack for 10 months in a suitcase..

What are we going to do with our dog?

do I need to learn some dutch? I'm clueless.

Am i going to be by myself all the time??

Who's going to do my hair? haha... yes I have actually thought of this

and back to the dog. As of now we are thinking of taking her with us. Crazy? Maybe. But how could you leave this sweet face?

Jared has accepted an offer to play basketball for the Leuven Bears, located in Leuven, Belgium.

We leave in August.

This is where Belgium is (in case you're like me and geographically challenged)

Belgium is famous for waffles, chocolate and beer :)

We will be living in a university town, Leuven, Home of the Catholic University of Leuven.

They speak Dutch in the area we will live in, but the country also speaks french and german (I believe.. relying on Wiki).

WE ARE SO THRILLED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY.

Yup, i finished school, I now have a bachelor's degree in Accounting. What do I do now? Same thing I did before I graduated. haha. Life hasn't changed in the slightest, except for an increase in free time in whihc I fill with TV, reading, and hanging out with the hubsy.

We had a fun anniversary celebration which included staying in the 50's style diner hotel room at the anniversary inn (Thanks to a sweet sister who gave us a great deal), robin hood, and dinner. Our actual anniversary was spent in island park with jared's mom and dad and brother... haha... which was fun but not my idea of a romantic weekend, he had some making up to do.

Teresa and Jeremy moved to alaska... sad.

Our besties moved to alaska which makes me sad. They move back in August so until then Jared and I put up with each other :) The thing i miss the most is our addiction to a little game called sequence.. which usually ended in the boys singing a stupid song because they cheated to win, and me and teresa getting mad and knocking their chips of the table. We are mature.

which brings me to my next point... Jared.

He is trying to play overseas next basketball season and we are crossing our fingers it works out. He had a workout with the jazz last week which went well. He felt he did well which is great because he was kind of an underdog at the camp. Hopefully this leads to some more opportunities in the basketball life. We are looking forward to finding out which country we will move to, what a crazy thing to wait for! We will most likely move in the middle of august if everything works out.

WOW what a crazy three weeks.

First. Senior Night. Jared was the lone senior on the team, there were some really great articles about him in the Herald Journal and in Cache Valley Magazine.

Teresa and I made some great posters in preperation for the great night!
We laughed our heads off at these AWESOME CREEPY masks. Nothings better than a huge crowd with Jared head's that are missing eyeballs. What better to do than wear them all night. We loved our Jared masks.

Before the game started they honored Mr. Quayle. We walked out on the court where they presented him with his Jersey. It was so crazy, i was so nervous i did my elbow elbow wrist wrist wave. Such an honor for him, I loved it.
THEY WON!! Jared played great as usual. They became WAC champs. Taking down NMSU. Wonderful night!

Fast Forward. We are now in Reno for the WAC tourny. We won, we won, and then we lost. We lost to the same team that we beat in WAC championship, NMSU. It was heart breaking. I almost got in a fight with a player.. haha.. my mom restrained me.

Merry Christmas. Finally.

We had so much fun over the holidays and the long winter break from school! Unfortunately that break comes to an end on Monday, but I did enjoy the extra week :)

OH YEAH...

I forgot one quick story.

I had a final yesterday (Thursday) at 3 PM.

I stayed up all night studying for it.

I worked the next day, and left work around 1:30

I planned on studying for my final.

I arrive at the school,

Lolly gag,

buy a christmas present at the bookstore,

IN NO REAL HURRY.

Arrive at the couch in front of my class at 2PM.

One hour til test time.

Kid from class walks out of classroom,

"LINDSEY! What are you doing, why aren't you taking the final??!"

"Because it's not til 3?"

"No it started at 1:30"

Bad words run through my head as I panic.

I didn't believe him until someone else came out of class..

"Lindsey, did you take the final?"

WOW. who does that. I almost missed it entirely.

Nice teacher let me take it still.

PHEW.

Basketball ups and downs

This week has been a roller coaster in the basketball world. They played BYU on Wednesday at home and won! it was the most intense game and SO much fun. It was nuts. SOOO many people were there they ended up locking the doors so that no more students could get in. It was jammed packed so some people didn't have seats. We ended up scalping some tickets so my sis and her husband could get in.
Jared played amazing- he always does. It amazes me how high he can jump and how great he is. After we went out to dinner at Ruby Tuesday's with the fam where this happened..

Then on Saturday they played st Mary's and lost. It was a tough loss to swallow since it broke a 37 game winning streak at the Spectrum. But, losses happen- even though they suck. Jared once again played great.

We are looking forward to being done with school and for Christmas break and Christmas!

Wow, class can be a drag. Especially when every other professor cancelled class today EXCEPT mr. Roper. GAG. So here I am.. in class.. but not technically in class. I'm avoiding reality.

Well.. basketball is well underway. It's been a sad start to the season with a one point loss to utah and a 3? point loss to a school in boston. Jared scored his career high 27 points against Utah which was pretty dang cool. He also has been a rebounding machine.

Our Dog.. LEAH... aka the BEAST.. has been keeping us busy and entertained. For instance, one night while Jared was gone I had her sleeping in bed with me so I wouldn't be scared.. BAD IDEA. She decided she was hungry in the middle of the night, so she wandered out to the kitchen for some Sugar Cookies (which were really delicious so I can see why she was craving them at 2AM). I woke up with a heart attack.. I heard pans banging, plates clashing and every other sort of mayhem imaginable... My reaction, " OHHHHH crud! someones in my house!!" Panic panic panic.

Dumb dog.

She also likes to find random food and eat them.. For instance, while talking on the phone to my mother she managed to find a beef stroganoff package, open it, and sprinkle it around the house. Love it when my house smells like Stroganoff.

She also ate a half cube of butter last night, wrapper and all. She might have high cholesterol.

THANKSGIVING is this week. So thrilled. Love to eat until I'm sick. Love it.

So it's been quite a while since I posted last. We have had a lot going on. I started my new job back in June and I am really loving it and really busy with it. It makes me think hard everyday and I actually feel like I'm finally catching on.. phew. I work in the budgeting department at Logan Regional hospital. We create different budgets for different things, its been a great learning experience as I'm finishing up school. I'm on track to graduate in the Spring and I absolutely can NOT wait! It will be such a relief.

Jared has been in full swing with Basketball. They started practicing last week and their first game is on Friday the 30th! (I can't believe it's already here.. tis the season!) Jared works hard everyday at practice and school and we're hoping he stays healthy throughout the whole season. He was recently picked for WAC first team- preseason. I thought it was a pretty cool recognition- He's just hoping that that's how it ends up.. haha. He's also what I call Utah State's poster boy (haha) He's on the magnets that have the schedules on them- it's a sweet little action shot.

SOOO in the past 2 month a lot of great things have happened. Jay... I would like you to know that this post is for you because you keep pestering me :)

We finished Basketball season which ended on a bitter sweet note. Its nice to see Jared every once in a while too.. i guess :) ... The boys ended up with 30 wins which is a school record, but lost in the big dance to Marquette... I cried. Jared ended up fouling with less than a minute to play and we ended up losing by 1 tiny point. It was really sad, but you couldn't help but to be proud of the boys and all of their accomplishments.

We finished school for the semester! HOORAY! Jared has to start summer school next month but he sure is enjoying having the month of may off. He started landscaping for his dad on Monday which gives him something to do, and to make some extra money.

We went to the closing banquet for basketball where Jared received a couple of great awards... The one I was most shocked at was for being on the Academic recognition list... who knew that could happen?? haha.. You're welcome Jared.

We found out we're going to be an aunt and uncle.. so thrilled!

We went fishing in Manila with Jareds best friend Jeremy and his girlfriend Teresa. We stayed at the Catron house where they took great care of us. We went fishing everyday and ended up catching quite a few! I even used a fly rod without hooking anyone but a fish! haha.. who knew that could happen too?

We celebrated both of Jared's grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. It was so neat to see BOTH of them celebrate it. Congratulations Grandma and Grandpa Keller and Grandma and Grandpa Quayle!

And last but not least we're moving this weekend to a house! Not our own, unfortunately, but we're renting it for a year.. i love it, it's so nice!

What an exciting couple of weeks. To start it off... they took first place in the WAC. Then, they took first place in the WAC tournament. Now, we're off to Boise for some NCAA MADNESS!! I'm so excited.

Quail failures, plantar Fascitis, and life.

Sad to say-- our quail never hatched. And for those of you who thought i'm pregnant, its definitely a no. We were actually incubating quail eggs in our apartment to have as pets. I think jared will probably order more- I was so bummed when they didn't hatch.

A couple of updates-- USU proved not to be invincible in their recent losses to Boise and St Marys- it was sad but its okay-- they're surviving. The boise game happened to fall on valentines, so me and a couple girls (a wife, a fiance and a girlfriend) all went to the game. the drive was long- survived with only 1 speeding ticket (and thankfully i wasn't driving). When we arrived in boise it was 6:30 and the game was at 7:05 so we decided to get some food- then ran over to the game. by this time we were cutting it close and when we finally reached the "Player Ticket-will call line" it was FOREVER long. To make a long story short-- they ran out of USU tickets- i flipped- got a little angry at a couple of people- and got into the game with about 8 minutes left in the first half. To make matters worse they lost. We look back at our unfortunate vacation and laugh now.. but i was ANGRY then. UGH. haha.

Another unfortunate event is Jared's "foot incident". He has a bad case of Plantars Fascitis" which to my understanding is a tearing thingy in the arch of your foot that KILLS. He's in a lot of pain. He got a cortizone shot a week ago but it didn't really have much effect. He also gets some sort of ultrasonic treatment?? that doesn't really help either. He says hes fine- He still is playing great. In the ST Mary's game that was on ESPN he still was able to score 22 points (including an NBA range 3-pointer) which was so awesome!

Good news to end on: the WAC tournament which means spring break and a trip to reno- is in about 2 weeks. HOORAH!

WAHOO! We just beat Fresno in a wild overtime. Jared is still doing great. This week was a bit of a wild one. I worked so much and have so much stinkin homework. It has been busy. Jared and I really haven't been up to too much lately... oh wait... we're having BABY QUAIL! yes i'm going to be a mom! to a little button quail. can't wait. haha. Jared ordered them off of the internet and i am patiently waiting for an incubator so we can hatch some babies.

Quayle posted his first double-double of the year with 17 points and a season-high 11 rebounds against Howard while adding seven assists. Christmas and Basketball

To catch you up.... Jared and I had a super exciting christmas! We started the week off with a Christmas party at Jared's aunts house, it was great and we even got some home made root beer... my favorite... HAHA. That was for you Jay. Then on monday we celebrated a way exciting win against crazy Utah. We won in the last seconds even though the time didn't start and the Ute's coach threw a big temper tantrum, the big baby. It was so great, jared did amazing once again.. He looks so great out there. I suggest you all come see him play:) After the game we spent the next couple of days hanging out at the Quayle's playing the wii. Then on Christmas eve we went to the Spainhower party where we played rock band and hung out with the fam.. We stayed the night at my parents house in some killer jammers, Jared even got a pair that he loves:) On Christmas we were spoiled by both of our parents-- Thank you so much! Jared spoiled me too, he gave me a way cute iPod that I don't think i've set down since I got it. THEN... This week (monday tuesday and Wednesday) is the duel in the desert tournament. Last night they played howard and completely slaughtered them! Jared got an amazing SLAM DUNK... OH WHAT??! it was so awesome.. he looked like MIKE. He ended with 17 points, a season high of 11 rebounds and a season high of 7 assists. He's that good. haha. It was a blast and i'm all ready for the game tonight!

I'm so excited because I finally got my christmas tree up. My mom really wants to see it so i'll post some pics. I'm so HAPPY! Jared has been going non stop, and really doing an amazing job playing basketball. After the games kids always come and ask for his autograph-- I love it. I had a couple friends over the other day and we decorated some gingerbread men, it was so fun.
Plus, the semester is almost over and the Utah state vs BYU game is this saturday-- Life is good! haha

Since it's almost thanksgiving, I figured I better write a few things i'm thankful for-

First off- my cute husband. I love him. I am so thankful for the time that we are able to spend together when he is actually home. He is such an awesome man, I look up to him in so many ways. I love watching movies with him, and taking our weekly trips to the zoo. I love that he is so dedicated and always on the go- he's definitley not a slacker. I LOVE him. I'm thankful for my parents- for my mom who has to listen to my daily phone calls about the most pointless things. I'm thankful for all that she does for me and for helping make me apartment cute. I'm thankful that she misses me and wants me to come hang out with her- i love her. My dad for always ALWAYS making me smile. For the random phone calls or emails where he tells me he is proud of me. For being a great example to me. I love him. I am thankful for my sisters. Ashley who makes me laugh and who never stops surprising me with her crazy life. For her occasional visits and her cute face. Whitney who is always fun to talk to on the phone. She is so smart and the best example to me- she is the sweetest girl i've ever met. I love them. I am thankful for Jake- my little brother. He is so COOL and just as goofy as his father. He makes me laugh, i love playing games with him whether it be basketball or nintendo. I love him. I am thankful for Jared's family. For ken and maurine who provide us with weekly entertainment. Maurine for always giving us goodies and taking such good care of us. Ken for those looks he gives me when i say weird things-- its the look of 'What have I gotten myself into?' Kody and Tressa for being so fun and having my favorite dog ever. Danni and josh for making me laugh and making fun of me and my blog :) I love the Quayles. I am thankful for my grandparents and Jared's. For the support they give us. So.. i guess I need to update you all, its been forever. Jared has started playing- and he is doing AMAZING. He is playing the point guard, and is really adapting well. The are so far undefeated-- they've played 4 games, 2 of them were real, and have won every time. Jared's last game was at UC santa barbara, they left to California on Saturday and got home this morning (Tuesday) at 11:30. I was so excited to see him when i came home from school. They had a fun time in California, and won their game by 2. I was able to watch it over the internet... yelling and screaming and clapping at the computer-- I was home alone and my neighbors probably were thinking i was nuts. He scored 9 points and had 6 rebounds- the announcers were amazed that the point guard was getting rebounds- he can jump! We are so excited for thanksgiving- even though i have to work. ugh. I'll post some game pictures soon!

Happy Halloween! Jared's first game is this Friday, on Halloween! Everyone better come :) He also has his 'Blue and White Game' on Wednesday, which is a little scrimmage and then people ask for his autograph after... haha funny. I'm definitley getting one. This past weekend was pretty good, we did some pumpkin carving and played a little Tripoly ( a sort of fun poker game, I just always get out first and have to watch forever while jared and kody bring in all the chips, but kody tends to cheat by taking my winnings so I don't really count me as a loser). I also went to dinner with my parents at yummy Utah Noodle which was SO good, plus i Love my parents so it was just awesome. My poor Muffy dog got her ear ripped off at the groomer last week, it was so sad! she had to have surgery and get it cut off, so now she has a stub ear and my mom says she looks like shrek. SAD.

Ha.. so my mom and sister told me about this blog, seriouslysoblessed.blogspot.com, it makes fun of people that blog... and i think its absolutely hillarious, if your bored you should check it out. But this weekend really was fun, we went to Amber and Brady Quayle's wedding dinner and reception. We hung out with the quayles so we had a lot of fun. After their reception we went to my parents house and hung out with them. We went out to eat at cafe rio, which was delicious. We were completely entertained by my dad. First off, he was cold because he said being bald makes all the heat go out of your body, so he put his hood on and ate... then, he was convinced there was a 'talon' in his burrito. Turns out it was a piece of his fork that broke off, and we couldn't stop laughing. We had a slumber party at my parents house, and the next morning my mom and I went shopping and got a ton of cute decorations for our apartment. I love it! Jared and I went to the willow park zoo to see the ducks, so thats what these pictures are from. In case you don't know, Jared loves ducks! The top one is what I got for my birthday and the second one is my favorite duck :) I'm learning my ducks ever since I got in to that family. The have pet ducks and duck hunt-

So, once again not much to comment about. USU actually won a football game, which is almost a miracle! We had a fun Saturday, after the football game Maurine, Tressa and Kody came up to visit us. We went to eat at Fredrico's, then went mini golfing, and then came back to our apartment and played sequence, Tressa and I make the ultimate sequence team, and whoever is on Jared's team is destined to lose. Lately, Jared has an obsession with mini golf, so we go at least once a week. We just hope Jared wins so he won't break golf clubs ;) We are both really excited because we can go visit our families this weekend since Jared has Saturday off. He's really excited about this because... he gets to work on the infamous duck pen, i think he's been going through withdrawals being stuck in Logan for three weeks straight. We're going to my parents of Friday, and his on Saturday. Basketball season is coming up, October 31st is their first home game-- I think I'm more excited than Jared is!! Other than that, we didn't do much. Maybe something exciting will happen this weekend.

WOW! School is tough. I just finished two exams, one in my tax class and one in my accounting class, and i'm pretty sure i didn't do very good! Oh well, at least they are over :) Jared and I have been very busy, and we hardly ever see each other. Usually around 9 pm is the first time we are actually home together. It's been pretty tough. Jared has basketball everyday still, and has to go to the football games on the weekends, he doesn't really have free time... and when he does he has to go to study hall. Nothing really has happened that is spectacular-- We just live a pretty routine life lately. I'm excited for this weekend because i don't have to work on Saturday!! hoorah:) But- i don't want to bore you to much- so that's it for now! Love ya!

For labor day weekend the quayle family set out on another flaming gorge adventure. When we got there Saturday morning, it was scorching hot. We were dumping water on us to stay cool, and my nose got way fried. We fished all day on Saturday and I think we caught one lake trout... gross. Sunday rolled around and ended up being a lot cooler, we fished all day again and caught one Kokanee and one Rainbow.. the boys were the ones who fished, with the down riggers. We didn't have very much luck. While we were out on Sunday it started getting really windy and there were white caps everywhere, so captain Ken started heading in.. we got drenched! The waves were going over the boat and soaking us.. it was really funny, and entertaining. Sunday night there was a flash flood warning where we were.. and they weren't kidding. It poored all night, and poored some more. Jared and I have a little tent, which was leaking all night and everything got wet! Somehow we stayed warm though, so other than the noise and the drip drip drip on our faces, we were doing good! On monday morning, we woke up, packed up and went home because it was still rainy! Gizmo (tressa and kody's doggy) and I are best friends, and I'm also his favorite aunt. We love each other.. haha. Tressa Maurine and I spent a lot of the vacation reading and relaxing- and entertaining each other. It was pretty sweet! ps.. i know i look quite lovely in all of these pictures... haha... not!

So the first week of school has come and gone! We are so busy and hardly see each other, but we're still having fun. I finally landed a job at the Anniversary Inn, and I love it. I work until 9 about four nights a week, which is keeping me busy. They are letting me go to all of Jared's games, and I can do my homework there.. so it's pretty nice. Jared is constantly going going going, with school and basketball. Just the other day they made him get up and run 2 miles at 7:30 in the morning-- he finished 3rd on the team in like 11 minutes... that's so amazing to me, it would've probably taken me a half hour.. haha. Now he just works out and has to attend all these meetings and stuff. Jeremy, Jared's friend, has been living at our house for a week now, and I think Jared enjoys not being the only boy.. but when Jeremy moves out i'm sure he'll still be over all the time. They have all of their classes together, and have the same major.. so, if anyone wants to be Jeremy's girlfriend so that I can have someone to hang out with, that would be great! But Life is good here in Logan-- We love you all!

Marysvale!

Last Monday Jared and I went to Marysvale, Utah for a few nights with my family! We went and stayed at my great aunt's inn, Moore's Old Pine Inn, from Monday and came home Wednesday. It was a blast! It's in centraly Utah, down by Beaver, and is the oldest running hotel in Utah. Her and her husband own and operate it, and they do a really amazing job. Every morning they made us delicious breakfast, and even more delicious dinners at night! We were spoiled rotten. Jared and I stayed in the Miner's room, which was decorated with mining tools and pictures, and it even had a little coal cart in the wall, pretty cool! On our way there we stopped at Fort Cove and checked out what the Mormons did back then. It was pretty fun, and really interesting. While we were in Marysvale we went Four-wheeling on some pretty fun tracks up to a waterfall. We hiked down to the waterfall, and took lots of pictures because it was gorgeous! Then on the way back-- jared took me on an adventure... we were cruising on the 4 wheelers and going off these little hill/jump things, and i thought for sure I was going to die. It was a blast. The next day we went river rafting, it was hilarious. Jared almost fell out a couple of times, one time he even grabbed on to my arm for support-- how cute? haha. I was cracking up. After river rafting we went to Bryce Canyon, which was beautiful, and played typical tourists. It was so much fun, and we had a great time with our family. We are thankful that my aunt katie let us stay at her inn and that she spoiled us rotten! If anyone is looking for a fun place to visit-- little Marysvale is the place!

HOME SWEET HOME!

So as most of you know we just returned from a great, adventurous, 9 day long vacation to ALASKA! It was so much fun. We left on the 24th of July, and arrived in Anchorage at about 3 PM. We drove a long way to Ninilchik, where we stayed for most of the vacation. We stayed in cute little cabins, and were quite entertained by the 3 brothers. The next day we went on a charter boat out halibut fishing.... and guess who caught the biggest fish out of the 12 of us.. ME!! Jared was jealous. It weighed 59 pounds and was so hard to real in! We did a lot of fishing while we were there. We went fishing on the Kenai river almost every day-- and for the first few days we had a hard time catching anything, but it did pick up and Jared ended up catching quite a few fish, along with all of the boys. I caught 4 fish, but I only got one in the net... but who cares! One of the days we went to Homer, and did a little sight seeing. A week later we drove to Seward and stayed the last three nights there. I loved Seward, it was a cute little town! We went silver fishing on charters, which was way fun and we caught lots of Silver Salmon. We went on a day cruise the last day and saw lots of wildlife and a huge glacier! We did a lot of laughing and had a wonderful time, it was a great vacation!

Our fun filled weekend!

What a weekend! Jared and I hung out all Friday night up here in Logan, we went and hit a bucket of balls, went to Willow Park Zoo (Jared's favorite place to visit), went to Chili's and then went to see Get Smart. We absolutely loved that movie, I laughed so hard my stomach hurt and I really want to go see it again! It was way funny. On Saturday we went golfing with Maurine and Kody, Jared won. I actually hit the ball really good for the first time ever... But on the other 8 drives I did crappy as usual. Then.. we went to Perry and hung out. We went to Smith and Edwards- this was my third time entering into the madness of that store- and we bought our rain gear for Alaska- mine is size extra huge. When I was laughing at how big it was, Ken told me its not a fashion statement, which I guess translates to "you can look like you've gained 100 pounds in Alaska and no one will care." Jared and his brothers worked on the infamous duck pen- and even put up an electric fence to keep those darn raccoons out, hopefully it works. I hung out with Maurine and Tressa, it was pretty fun. We had a slumber party with Kody and Tressa at the Quayle's and luckily slept good despite the 'mice'. Haha... Yesterday we went to the Weber State fireworks, it was a blast. I successfully hit a couple in the head with a football because I can't catch, and Jared was using me as a target for the football... that crazy boy. The fireworks were amazing and we had a fabulous weekend! We love our families- they are so amazing! I'll post pictures later.. i forgot my camera cord.

I'm sitting here watching Jared do his math homework-- He works really hard with school, basketball and Golden Spike Landscaping, what a great guy :) I kinda like him.. I still don't have a job- it's getting really frustrating, but something will come up eventually we hope. We go to Alaska in a couple of weeks and we are so excited! Jared is just trying to finish his school up (with a lot of help from me) before we go. It's coming so quick. We went to flaming gorge for the 4th of July and did a whole LOT of fishing. Josh and Jared did most of the catching on the little troller thing, and Danni and I would real them in. I'm not good at fishing, I have no idea what I'll do in Alaska... plus it freaks me out to touch them- Jared slapped me in the face with a fish, and I cried- he says, "It flipped it's fin, I didn't slap you!" but.. he slapped me and I cried.. thats how scared I am of fish.. they make me cry. Oh well, these Quayle people put me on all sorts of adventures, and as Ken says, "I'm un-American" so hopefully that will change soon. I'll be a fishing, camping Quayle.

The beginning of the blog..

So, since I sit at home all day while Jared is gone I decided I wanted to join the married couple blog world. Jared has been gone since 3:30 and won't be home until 9 tonight so I have PLENTY of free time. This morning jared, me, annaliese and chet went golfing. To put it simply, I am horrible at golfing and I get really frustrated that I can't hit the ball farther than 10 feet. We played it scramble style though, so I always got to hit from Jared's, somehow amazing, hits. We ended up beating chet and annaliese, so that was pretty fun. We have been married a whole month now, and it's been a month of adventure. I still don't have a job, which I think is making Jared really frustrated, but I had another interview.. maybe one of the fifty places I've applied will hire me... just maybe. We love our little townhouse, and are having a fun time being married--- and we are shocked that it has been a month since our wedding! crazy crazy.. but i'm going to try to keep this updated, plus it will give me something to do. Love ya...
