I love the hunger games... haven't read them? Well you should!
I have a questions for all of you from Belgium-- What chocolate is best? I like milk chocolate.. and I think its all yummy but apparently i haven't had the best yet.
Also, is there maple syrup in Belgium? If not, what should we put on our waffles.
Do people usually tip at restaurants?
thats all.
Thanks!

Hey,
Most of the time we don't tip in Belgium, not like they do in the States. And yeah waffles with strawberry jam and cream or sugar. I pass one of these days, I just live one floor up in the same building.

They think we are crazy here in the states for tipping. I never went anywhere in Europe that people tipped. Also, try Nutella on your waffles...just Nutella. It is the best. Had it in Londontown...not that British waffles compared to Belgium waffles...
My mom said to buy lots of furniture! Ha...um, that is where they got a lot of theirs when they lived in Europe and they apparently make good furniture in Belgium.
Hope you're safe and hope you're loving it! MUAH!
Shall I send maple syrup?
Maple syrup is not known here but you can use an other syrup like this one;
http://www.streekproduct.be/producten/detail.phtml?id=807
Flemish name; kandijsiroop
Furniture is not Belgian but we like the Swedish IKEA (15min drive)
http://static.onlinecatalogue.ikea.com/2010/ikea_catalogue/BEN/
habits of Belgian people
We like French Fries
We use the backdoors
Three kisses as a welcome
There is every day an cycling event
Tipping is nice but not recuired
Waffles are more known as a name then as a product from here
Chocolate tours are in Brussels
We have a lot of differtent beers, try Duvel or Westfleteren.
Hi,
I'm sure you can find ahorn syrup in the bigger stores (Delhaize and Colruyt for example.)
If you have a chance to visit Brugge (which you should do anyway): a nice Chocoltae museum (where you can taste.)But a guideline: the darker the chocolate
the better (and less fattening)
Go for 'Magere Melk'
Surely no tip in restaurant like in the States. Sometimes a small tip is left behind but not required.
Hope you enjoy our city.
peter
Jared, try cote D'or chocolate
